Shelter & Safety
We all know the feeling of “waking up” in a strange bed and not
knowing where you are for a split second. But the next second
you know, “Oh yes, I am in Italy, on vacation”
But for people with alzheimer’s the next second does not come.
So confusion arises: Where am I? What I am doing here? Help
me! These feelings could lead to fear, stress and unrest,
resulting in calling or going out of bed.
But when the person’s favourite music is there, playing softly,
there is no fear or unrest. Familiar music provides a sense of
shelter, safety and home. No unrest, but a happy awakening.
